Poland Declines Participation in US Army Action in Iran
Amid concerns that NATO allies could be drawn into the expanding Middle East conflict, the minister highlighted potential impacts on global arms production and supply chains. He said Western defense industries must move into “full alert mode” to meet rising demand, noting that US weapons are being used by American forces and their allies in the Persian Gulf.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also emphasized broader geopolitical risks, including a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which could raise global energy prices and benefit Russia economically.
The defense minister was in the US to attend a ceremony where President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor to Sgt. Michael Ollis, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2013 while protecting a wounded Polish officer, Capt. Karol Cierpica, who also attended the event.
